Noughts and Ones

A stack of experiments with custom photoshop brushes (including some semi automated cross hatching) and drawing direct onto a wacom tablet...

Ooh, nice. Where'd you get 'em?

Hi Dave,
I made them. Some are old ones I made, sampling a mark and then adjusting settings, some new, some modified from the ones that come with CS4/5. The hatching ones are patches drawn with those brushes and then monkeyed with in brush settings. I'm just beginning to get a few ideas about how far you could take it (if you had time...).

All these would be much better with a cintiq, but since I got the aspect ratio right on my tablet drawing feels more natural. Been trying on an ipad too, but it's not much use.

Hey Joel, Great to meet you at the Blowout (sorry to comment rather than email - can't seem to find a link on your blog). Drop us a line - be great to stay in touch and I've got a question for you too. Your art is amazing BTW! Andy xxx

Oh hah, hello! Thanks for dropping by. I do seem to have hidden the email address pretty well by now don't I? It's in the rights enquiries bit, but jstewart@joelstewart.co.uk will do the trick.

Glad you like the slender offerings here. Not overmuch time to draw my own things at the moment... I enjoyed your piping deep in saturday night. Peeped along sheepishly in the background but still trying to come to terms with the new tuning on my box...

Cheers,
J

The Cintiq is a hard thing to find here. I've had one on back order now for months! Patience, patience...
